Marine Platforms Congratulates SNEPCo on Reaching One Billion Barrels of Oil Production from the Bonga Field

Lagos, Nigeria – February 2023 – Marine Platforms Limited (MPL) proudly congratulates Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) on achieving a historic milestone of one billion barrels of oil production from the iconic Bonga Field. This remarkable feat, officially recorded on February 14, 2023, is a testament to the resilience, innovation and collaborative strength of Nigeria’s deepwater oil and gas sector.
As a long-standing Indigenous subsea service provider to SNEPCo, Marine Platforms has had the privilege of playing a strategic support role in the operations of the Bonga Field. Our contribution as an Inspection, Repair and Maintenance (IRM) contractor has spanned several project phases and vessel engagements, consistently aligning with the highest safety and operational standards.
Our partnership with SNEPCo on Bonga has seen the deployment of multiple high-specification vessels, including the African Concept (formerly Siem Marlin), African Inspiration, Go Supporter, and currently, the African Vision. Through these assets, Marine Platforms has delivered ongoing IRM services under a long-term charter agreement, providing critical call-off support for ROV interventions, subsea installations and general field support services.
This milestone affirms the possibilities within Nigeria’s offshore landscape when vision is backed by strong partnerships and enduring commitment. Marine Platforms remains dedicated to supporting SNEPCo and its partners in driving excellence in offshore asset integrity, subsea performance and value delivery.
We celebrate this billion-barrel achievement with pride and look forward to continuing our role in enabling safe and efficient operations across Nigeria’s deepwater frontier.
