Marine Platforms Awarded Provision Of OIMR Services Contract For Total Akpo, Egina And Other Exploration Areas

Marine Platforms Limited, a Nigerian oil service company has been awarded a contract to provide offshore inspection, maintenance and repair (OIMR) services on Egina, Akpo and other explorations fields operated by Total Upstream Nigeria Limited.

The service scope of this contract requires the provision of a 100tonne Vessel and a 150tonne Vessel, each fitted with 200HP ROVs and experienced personnel as well as the required onshore support.

For the execution of this project, Marine Platforms deployed her owned vessel, the African Vision, a multipurpose offshore support vessel with 100T AHC crane, 60-man accommodation and 1000sqm deck space. Also supporting is the Maersk Inventor, a light construction DP3 vessel with 400T AHC crane, 120-man accommodation with a 1,850sqm deck space. The Maersk Inventor recently arrived in Nigeria to begin well intervention operations, afterward, she will proceed to a new project offshore Nigeria.

It is worthy of mention that Marine Platforms has been providing IRM services on Total offshore operation fields since 2010 after emerging as the lowerest bidder in several highly regulated tendering processes. While Marine Platforms ROV contract continues on Egina and Akpo, MPL progresses with the OIMR contract on Total\’s fields.

Marine Platforms Chief Executive Officer, Taofik Adegbite said, \”In the past Marine Platforms has been opportuned to deliver wellbore cleanout services and ROV services to Total. This new project allows us to provide our vessel chartering services and further deepen our well stimulation and intervention service delivery to Total. With 3 major segments of our service parameters at work, this will strengthen our brand collaboration where all units will be consolidated.

While we appreciate the fact that this project will give us the platform to further strengthen our local content capacity, our prime objective here is to deliver beyond our client\’s expectation without compromising on quality and safety.

The offshore Egina field is located in OML 130. Currently, a rig is drilling production and 2 FPSOs are infield. Drilling and installation of sub-sea production items will continue past 2020. The offshore Akpo field is also located in OML 130, nearly 200 kilometers south of Port Harcourt. OML 130 is an ultra-deepwater field with water depths ranging from 1,100m to 1,700m. Production from the field is currently being achieved via a subsea production system comprising several production, gas injection and water injection wells, all tied back to the Akpo FPSO.
