Chevron Agbami Phase 3 SURF TIP Project – Successfully Delivered

Lagos, Nigeria – 2016 – Marine Platforms Limited (MPL) played a crucial role in the successful completion of the Chevron Agbami Phase 3 SURF TIP Project, a critical deepwater development campaign executed between 2015 and 2016.

The project scope included the transportation and installation (T&I) of key critical pipeline infrastructure (CPIs) in water depths of up to 1,500 metres, offshore Nigeria. The installation campaign was executed using the Polar Onyx and African Inspiration vessels, both purpose-built for deepwater construction and intervention support.

The scope of work covered:

  • Loadout and transportation of CPIs from Europe and Asia to Nigeria
  • Installation of over 5.6 km of production, water injection, and gas injection flowlines
  • Installation of eight 6-inch jumpers totaling 680 metres
  • Deployment of flying leads, umbilicals, and a full spread of subsea structures, including:
  • OD 178mm Umbilical (2.88 km)
  • 6 Manifold IUTA
  • 2 Temporary Parking Frames (TPFs)
  • 2 Production Manifolds
  • 2 Main Manifold Suction Piles
  • 1 Temporary Manifold and Mudmat
  • Pre-commissioning of all flexible flowlines and umbilicals

MPL supported the project as a Contractor, providing specialist marine assets, technical personnel, engineering services, and subsea expertise across various phases of the operation.

  • Loadout, Transportation, and Sea-fastening Engineering
  • Construction Vessel Selection and Studies
  • Installation Engineering
  • Installation Aids Selection and Design
  • Lay Systems including Reels, VLS, RDS, Hang-off Platforms, Hang-off Collars,
  • Winches, Davits, and Sheave Blocks
  • Rigging Design for Reel Lashings, Deployment, and Lifting
  • Overboarding Chutes, Underbenders, and Winches
  • Interface Engineering
  • Fabrication, Mobilization, and Construction Support
  • Pre-commissioning Engineering

The execution of this complex deepwater campaign was completed with over 118,000 manhours recorded without a single Lost Time Incident (LTI), which reflects a strong safety culture and operational excellence across all teams involved.
